This live webinar will focus on the “keys to success” for physicians and other qualified healthcare professionals (QHPs) who wish to use placental and dermal cellular and/or tissue-based products (CTPs) in their own businesses and/or in hospital owned outpatient wound/ulcer management provider-based departments (PBDs). James McGuire, DPM will review the role of placental and reticular dermal tissues in the management of chronic wounds. Kathleen Schaum will discuss the importance of insurance benefit verification, correct coding, and documentation. Dr McGuire and Ms Schaum will conclude by providing documentation examples to support the medical necessity of the application of CTPs and to educate payers.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand the clinical value of using placental and dermal CTPs in physician offices or PBDs for management of chronic lower extremity wounds.
  2. Review the role of placental tissues, reticular dermal tissue, and processing techniques in chronic wound closure.
  3. Discuss the importance of conducting insurance benefit verification prior to application of CTPs.
  4. Describe appropriate coding for the application of CTPs and review common coding errors to avoid.
  5. Review the documentation necessary to support the application of CTPs and to educate payers.
