Redefining Wound Healing Utilizing Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS)

Traditionally, wound healing has been defined as re-epithelialization of a wound. It is commonly recognized that healing continues after re-epithelialization. In this presentation, Dr Charles Andersen discusses how NIRS can document the ongoing healing and how NIRS can be utilized to determine when it is appropriate to progress to the next level of function in extremity wounds.
